Wizard cc is a cycling crew born in 2022, based in Milan, Italy.
The collective is made out of 13 old and new friends who share the same passion for bikes, music, beers and much more. We just like to spend time together on and off the saddle. This group has brought us back in time as we feel like we are 14yo again: While on a trip to Girona someone said that we looked like we were on a school trip.. and we are proud to hear this :)
First of all, we approach cycling in a very uncompetitive way, we don’t care about performance, cycling datas... we just like to spend time together surrounded by nature, feel free and have a few drinks :)
We are all passionate about death metal, hardcore and punk music (except one weird guy who likes Modjo...) so we built our aesthetics around metal and punk logos, hardcore punk gigs references and everything that is black magic...
The story behind the name Wizard CC is quite funny.
Exactly this time last year, we travelled to Vittorio Veneto to take part at the Lost In Prealps, an annual event which takes place on the mountains around Belluno. The day before the start of the event we had “a few beers” and we took a picture underneath a shop sign called “il Mago” (The Wizard in Italian) to Albe.
The pic was blurred and not well taken but it made us rolling to the floor laughing.
Since then Albe is also known as Il Mago.
Over the last few kms of the 2 days ride, we were happy, we were excited and most
of all, we had many laugh together so it was quite natural to start talking and dreaming about building a crew.
Since then, we started riding and hanging out together, locally and at many events such as Tuscany Trail and The Traka to name a few. These events may sound competitive to many of you, but we approached them without any desire to compete. Our objective has always been sticking together, help each other and cross the finish line together, no matter the result.
We encourage individuality, self-expression, and a sense of belonging to a community of like-minded individuals.
The components of the group are based within Milano and Monza. The latter is very well served as its the gate to access Brianza, an area surrounded by hills and home of many trails and single tracks. Milano, unfortunately, has not much to offer geographically but the Parco Agricolo Milano Sud it's easily accessible and it offers a vast flat open area perfect for a quick city escape. Many roadies use this area to train but it's also a perfect scenario fo gravel riding thanks to many unpaved tracks mainly used by farmers.
Our goal is to build a community in Milan and we are working hard to achieve this. We want to create FREE events open for all, no matter the level of fitness or the achievements you reached on Strava...
In order to do so, the last May, we launched a 50km weekly social gravel ride every Thursday night. We can say it was a success since day one. Probably also due to the lack of social rides in the city, the turn out was impressive. We are beyond stoked to see new faces joining the ride every week and share a few beers with us afterwards. This ride is now a settled event in Milan and we are proud to say that many new friendships were born thanks to this social ride.
As well as weekly social rides, we organize weekends events too. So far we have held two big events. We threw the first one last June called “Arcane Intersection”. Over 60 riders joined the 70kms gravel ride around Milan with 3 djs playing tunes at the after party.
But our biggest event so far was By Demons Be Driven. In order to thank the many people who joined our Thursday Social ride over the summer, on Saturday the 21st of October, we organized a FREE event which consisted on a 70km gravel ride in Milan and a huge after party a CIQ in Corvetto.. For the occasion, we involved many sponsors like Cascada, Met Helmets, Ass Savers, La Marzocco, Terrone & Co Coffee Roaster, Udog, Kryptonite,Komoot and Clandestino non Esiste.
A mid ride checkpoint provided coffees and delicious homemade energy bars while at the end of the ride, we held a prize give away where, most of the attendees, had the chance to win a helmet, a custom fender, a coffee bag and many other amazing stuff! Last but not least, we had 3 bands playing and they literally tore the roof off (If you were there you know what we are talking about) and 2 dj sets. The entire day was filmed by our good friends at Surface Studios.
But the best is yet to come. Many things will happen in 2024. Stay tuned!
If you wish to support us, we occasionally drop limited
edition merch such as long sleeve trail tees, cotton tees or other
goods. Keep an eye on our feed :)
